Suitcase choices

I could go on and on about this topic…my attitude on suitcases is ‘the cheaper the better.’ I am all for a hardcover as they call it, but there are two types of hard covers. One is very hard and can break easily if it's too full and then gets tossed around. (It has happened to me with an expensive one after three months). Then there is the not so hard one also called a “soft shell”, which is my favorite. You can still sit on it to close the suitcase, it is light and can be tossed around due to its flexible build. The third option is one of fabric, they usually come with an extra compartment for the laptop, but it takes a lot of space away from the inside. I don't like this model, as I always pack to the rim and keep my laptop in my work bag. I actually had a suitcase from a discounter for five years, and the only thing that was getting worse were the wheels. Otherwise it was perfect. Packing cubes and organizers:

Packing cubes and organizers are bag-in-bag systems–small or medium sized pouches where you can put your socks, tights, panties, bras and have a bag just for dirty laundry. Your cosmetics, hair things, and your jewelry should also be in a separate bag or case. These tools will help you maximize space and keep belongings organized.

Travel-sized toiletries:

I mean we all know about this, but just as a reminder, take your own shampoo and conditioner, the ones in the Hotels usually aren't good for you. Take your creams, deodorants, hairspray, nail varnish remover, hair oil and body lotion (this list is non exhaustive) in small containers. Also, if you don't have an airline status yet, and don’t have special fast treatment, putting the luggage in the boot of the airplane may take time. Time you could use to get home earlier on a Thursday evening.

Clear Nail Varnish:

Take one small bottle of nail varnish with you, in case those tights rip. You know what I mean. I have had so many situations where either I had holes in the toes, or around the waistband, and when this happens it just helps being prepared. You can go to the bathroom quickly and put some nail varnish on the hole in the tights to avoid a long tare.

Hair dryer:

Take your own good hair dryer. I know how sacred all our hair is to us girls, and I can tell you that the ones in the hotels usually damage your hair, because they have no heat control built in.

Tiny handbag:

Take a little tiny handbag for dinner where you can put your wallet, phones, and room key. Usually, before we went for dinner, we went to drop our things off at the hotel. Then I just took my wallet, my two phones (one work, one personal) and my hotel key with me. Since women’s clothing doesn’t always have pockets, I carried everything around in my hands. Then, I lost my room key somewhere, so eventually I started taking a small bag with me, so that it wouldn't happen again.
